I thought that Bowness-on-Windermere was going to be a stop on the Olympic flame route which was not mentioned at all in the Aviva Archive. I was prepared to mention instead our first agents at other places along the route today such as W Thomson appointed agent at Dumfries by North British in 1812...
...and John Black agent for Norwich Union at Wigton by 1820.
I was even going to illustrate the day with a couple of insurance-related cartoons produced by a member of staff of Employers Liability in 1954.
Then I found a reference to the appointment of Robert Handley Hunter as agent for Norwich Union Fire at Bowness-on-Windermere in 1900.
It goes without saying that I'd love to hear from anyone who has any further information on our history here.
