Jill Fulcher, 'the Society's first trained Flexowriter operator', at work. The Friden Flexowriter was an American made typewriter capable of recording machine-readable output simultaneously. Norwich Union made use of this function to create instructions for their Ferranti Orion computer. The Flexowriter was also capable of reading such data, either from the computer or another Flexowriter machine, and auto-typing up the result; it could also be used for duplication work.
